Main Purpose of Role
This role plays a critical part in supporting the reserving function, leading the delivery of high quality actuarial analysis, and ensuring the syndicate meets its regulatory and internal requirements.
Key Accountabilities & Role Requirements
• Lead the Assessment of gross and net reserves by class of business.
• Assessment of Technical Provisions under Solvency II or other local regulation
• Support preparation of documentation and returns for local regulatory bodies
• Develop and maintain reserving models, ensuring they are robust and comply with Lloyds and PRA requirements
• Preparation of reports for Quarterly Syndicate & Group functions and use of data warehouse
• Collaborate with pricing & underwriting teams on a regular basis to ensure an understanding of portfolio performance & trends
• Preparation and present reserving analysis to inform management and support underwriting teams
• Contribute to the production of the Actuarial Function Report
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior members of the actuarial team
• Support with the assessment of the reserving risk parameters for the internal capital model, contributing to capital modelling as required

• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and committed individual/team work ethic
• Advanced Excel skills
• Good team player and ability to motivate others
• Ownership of delivery quality and take accountability for own work
• Project management experience of dealing with multi-disciplinary teams
• Good technical skills and ability to make objective decisions with clear rationale
Qualifications & Experience
• At least 7 years Insurance experience, with preferably 5 years+ specifically in reserving and Technical Provision reporting. Lloyd’s reserving experience is highly desirable.
• ResQ experience desirable but knowledge of equivalent reserving software essential.
• VBA, Access and data warehouse systems experience desirable but not necessary
• Confident communicator with the ability to present technical information clearly to non-actuarial stakeholders
