Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor Project Locations: Northwest Office Location: Stockport Salary: £50k – £60k (DOE) Start: January Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm Company Overview A well-established Design & Build contractor based in Stockport is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support continued growth across their commercial, industrial, healthcare, and education projects. The business delivers a mix of fitouts, refurbishments, structural extensions, and small newbuilds up to £10m, offering full turnkey design and build services to repeat clients across the Northwest. Role Overview This is a strategic Senior Quantity Surveyor position overseeing the commercial management of multiple live Design & Build projects. You will take responsibility for cost control, forecasting, procurement, valuations, and final accounts while working closely with the Managing QS, Pre-Construction team, and Project Managers. The role will also involve contributing to tender pricing and cost planning for upcoming schemes. Key Responsibilities Full commercial management of projects from tender through to final account Ensuring accurate budget control, reporting, and forecasting Managing variations, valuations, interim applications, and final accounts Producing and maintaining detailed cost reports Assessing subcontractor quotations, negotiating terms, and securing packages Supporting Pre-Construction with cost planning, pricing, and VE input Preparing procurement packs for tender Providing commercial insight to support design and delivery decisions Carrying out site visits to monitor progress and commercial alignment Working closely with the Managing QS and supporting junior members where required Requirements Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry Strong background in Design & Build projects (fitout, refurb, extensions, or small newbuilds) Minimum 5 years’ QS experience with a structured career history Strong commercial and contractual understanding Able to work from a Stockport-based office and travel to Northwest project sites Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills
