The Role
The Senior Social Worker will join the Kinship Team within the Fostering Service, undertaking high‑quality assessments and contributing to the Trust’s commitment to safe, effective kinship care arrangements. You will be responsible for completing Form K and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments, ensuring all work meets statutory requirements and reflects best practice.
This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent written work, and the ability to manage complex family dynamics with sensitivity and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake Form K assessments and SGO assessments to a high professional standard.
* Analyse complex family situations and provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
* Work closely with children, families, and extended networks to assess suitability for kinship care.
* Prepare high‑quality reports for panel, court, and internal decision‑making processes.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams, legal services, and external partners.
* Ensure all work complies with statutory guidance, safeguarding procedures, and organisational policies.
* Manage a varied caseload, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
* Contribute to the wider fostering and kinship service through professional expertise and reflective practice.
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
* Significant experience completing Form K and SGO assessments.
* Strong understanding of fostering regulations, kinship care, and permanence planning.
* Excellent assessment, analysis, and report‑writing skills.
* Ability to work with complex family situations and manage sensitive conversations.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, and statutory responsibilities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Commitment to child‑centred practice and high‑quality service delivery.
