We have a vacancy for a Permanent Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join our friendly Virology Team at Hull Royal Infirmary. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to help us provide an efficient, high-quality Microbiology / Virology Diagnostic Service.
This vacancy is funded by NHS England as part of a 6-month pilot study for opt-out BBV testing in ED.
We are committed to providing excellent training and support, along with a variety of CPD and learning opportunities.
If you possess the appropriate qualifications and experience, and wish to thrive in a supportive, scientific environment while delivering diagnostic services, this role is ideal for you.
The successful candidate must be flexible to meet service needs, working a shift pattern that includes early, day, and late shifts, as well as weekends and bank holidays. Further details about shift patterns will be discussed at interview.
This vacancy may be considered for a secondment opportunity. Please ensure you have your line manager's agreement before applying if you wish to be considered for secondment.
This position may become permanent after the fixed-term/secondment period.
Responsibilities include performing complex tasks similar to those of a Biomedical Scientist, handling telephone enquiries, and communicating results to healthcare professionals. The role also involves reception, MLA, and clerical duties.
The post holder will use their judgment to make decisions impacting the accuracy and timeliness of reports, and will support, advise, and train less experienced staff, including trainees, students, and Band 2 MLAs, ensuring ongoing competence.
