The Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our Civil Engineering team. This is a key role within the business, providing both strategic and operational leadership across multiple projects.
Reporting to the Group Head of HSE, you will work closely with the Civil Engineering Director to shape and deliver the HSE strategy. You will lead by example, promoting best practice, innovation, and continual improvement to achieve excellence in safety and environmental performance across all sites.

Responsibilities
* Develop and promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture across all projects.
* Support and mentor operational teams to achieve excellence in delivery.
* Provide multisite support, ensuring consistent implementation of the HSE management system and compliance with statutory requirements.
* Lead investigations into incidents and accidents, producing effective recommendations to prevent recurrence.
* Oversee and analyse HSE performance, tracking KPIs and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
* Advise on CDM 2015 compliance and ensure alignment with company management systems.
* Work closely with clients, supply chain partners, and project teams to maintain and exceed HSE standards.
* Deliver training, cultural campaigns, and awareness sessions to embed a proactive HSE mindset.
* Chair HSE meetings and contribute to the ongoing development of strategic plans for the Civil Engineering business.
Who you are
You are a confident, knowledgeable, and approachable HSE professional with a strong background in civil engineering or construction. You combine technical expertise with practical site experience, and you can influence, engage, and inspire others to achieve high standards.
Essential:
* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
* IOSH membership.
* CSCS Card.
* Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, compliance, and best practices.
* Minimum 5 years’ HSE experience within a similar industry.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* Based in the South of the UK.
* Right to Work required as Visa Sponsorship unavailable for these positions
Desirable:
* Highways experience.
* GradIOSH/CMIOSH or working towards.
* NVQ Level 5/6, Diploma or Degree qualification.
