Responsibilities
1. Process a range of planning applications, including outline, full, reserved matters, and major applications
2. Validate applications and carry out consultations, negotiations, and site visits
3. Monitor developments and manage discharge of planning conditions
4. Present applications at Planning Committee meetings
5. Exercise delegated authority where appropriate
6. Investigate complaints relating to unauthorised developments and assist with enforcement procedures
7. Prepare and serve notices, formal cautions, and provide evidence at public inquiries or court where required
8. Provide advice and guidance to the public, developers, and stakeholders on planning matters
9. Support and guide junior Planning Officers where appropriate
10. Contribute to wider service projects and corporate initiatives
What We're Looking For
11. Experience working within Development Control or Planning Services
12. Strong understanding of planning legislation and procedures
13. Ability to manage a busy caseload independently
14. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
15. Experience presenting reports and attending committee meetings is desirable
16. Strong organisational and customer service skills
17. Ability to work collaboratively and respond positively to change
