Overview
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is expanding its Gynaecological Oncology surgical team in partnership with other Gynaecological Oncology services in the North East. Working with our specialist commissioners and cancer network (the Northern Cancer Alliance), the programme aims to improve resilience and optimise capacity in our tertiary regional specialist gynaecological oncology service to continue delivering excellent care across the North East and North Cumbria. The collaboration intends to establish a managed clinical network with new and innovative service delivery to ensure the best patient care and outcomes.
We are seeking a surgical Gynaecological Oncologist with specialist skills to complement the existing teams and develop and maintain clinical and academic excellence. The candidate will have GMC accreditation sub-specialist in Gynaecology Oncology or will be within 6 months of completion of specialist training.
Main duties of the job
The employing Trust for this post will be South Tees NHS Foundation Trust with the base site for this post being The James Cook University Hospital Gynaecological Oncology Centre.
The James Cook Gynaecological Oncology Centre is one of a few centres in the United Kingdom whose surgical portfolio extends from state-of-the-art robotic operations to cytoreductive surgery. Gynaecology Oncology at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is supported by on-site specialist surgical services including Colorectal, Vascular, Plastics, Thoracic and Urology in addition to the medical and clinical oncology teams.
Development of suitable research programmes by the post holder will be particularly encouraged.
About us
The James Cook University Hospital is a tertiary centre for Gynaecological Oncology. In addition, the Hospital provides Reproductive Gynaecology and complex Maternal and Fetal Care. It is a BSGE-designated endometriosis Centre and has BSUG accreditation for Urogynaecology.
The trusts Gynaecological-Oncology Services are accredited centres by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology.

Person Specification
Experience
* Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology or equivalent to that required for a UK CCT
* Relevant experience in Gynaecology Oncology
* Experience of supervising junior medical staff
* Evidence of research and innovative service developments
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
* Evidence of clinical audit
* Capable of carrying out operative surgery for Gynaecology concerns
* Other teaching skills/experience
Qualifications and Training
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* Relevant CCT or equivalent ('equivalence' must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of AAC)
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register (gynaecological oncology) or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
* BSCCP accreditation in colposcopy
* Further higher degree
