The Mid-Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is excited to offer an opportunity for a Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly, supportive, and driven team. Our busy cardiac service has a strong reputation for high standards of care, providing a wide range of invasive and non-invasive investigations across four sites: Dewsbury, Pinderfields, Pontefract, and the Community Diagnostic Hub.

The echo team offers services including adult TTE, stress echo (ESE, DSE, bicycle ergometer), contrast and bubble echo, TOEs, and is working towards physiologist-led valve clinics.

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to developing their practical expertise and knowledge. You will participate in regular audits and contribute valuable insights to service development.

Applicants should have proven competency in Adult Echocardiography and hold BSE accreditation. Those working towards BSE logbook completion may be considered for Band 6 with potential progression to Band 7. The initial banding will be at Band 6 until the necessary skills, experience, and accreditation are achieved for advancement.


Main duties of the job

* Provide cardiac physiology expertise within echocardiography, ensuring high standards of care.
* Perform and report routine and complex adult transthoracic echocardiograms independently, with high skill and knowledge.
* Participate in triage of echo referrals for appropriateness.
* Train, supervise, and mentor trainees, students, and registrars in echocardiography.
* Contribute to review and update of procedures, training materials, and patient information leaflets.
* Utilise IT and archive systems to maintain accurate records for governance and audit purposes.
* Identify areas for service improvement and suggest enhancements.
* Engage in Continuing Professional Development, research, and clinical trials.
* Collaborate with team leaders and service managers to develop the service further.
