Drive your career forward with this apprenticeship opportunity. Our Service Technicians/Mechanics are involved in all aspects of maintenance and repair from routine servicing to complex diagnostics and repairs on customer vehicles. Every day is different within the Service department.
Responsibilities
* Use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults
* Test parts and systems to ensure correct operation
* Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts of vehicles are examined
* Carry out bumper-to-bumper overview, service, and inspection
* Maintain electronic systems including on-board entertainment systems
* Complete legible and accurate paperwork for customers and centre records
* Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
* Work with a wide range of products including traditional, hybrid and electronic engines
* Comply with health and safety procedures in the workplace in compliance with regulations, standards, and guidance
* Prepare the vehicle and working area before the work activity (e.g., remove or mitigate slip and trip hazards) and maintain/restore the work area during and on completion
* Store and maintain tools and equipment, including calibration checks, and return to storage
* Access vehicle technical data to inform inspections and judgments on wear and serviceability
* Comply with environmental and sustainability procedures, regulations, standards, and guidance
* Apply vehicle safety inspection and routine maintenance procedures using vehicle-specific data
* Select and use tools and equipment, mechanical and electrical measuring tools, and diagnostic equipment
* Remove, repair, and replace vehicle tyres and balance wheel assemblies on relevant vehicles
* Inspect and service major vehicle systems (steering, suspension, braking, emission, air conditioning, battery and charging, fluid and filtration)
* Apply health monitoring tests to high voltage batteries and chargers for electrified vehicles
* Apply four-wheel geometry checks and adjustments
* Apply safe working practices to isolate electrified vehicles for maintenance
* Record vehicle service maintenance, parts replacement, or repair
* Provide customer service by identifying needs and making recommendations based on inspections, maintenance, or repair results
* Provide quotations for parts, products, and consumables
* Stock and parts storage procedures including ordering, checking, and stock rotation
* Work with organisational sales processes and team working principles
* Comply with equity, diversity, and inclusion guidance
* Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and colleagues (verbal and written)
* Use information and digital technology systems; comply with GDPR and cyber security
* Complete and record learning and development activities
Qualifications
* Some experience in the motor industry or formal training at Level 1 is desirable
* Passion for the industry and our brand
* Personal skills: Enthusiasm and willingness to learn, teamwork, strong communication, customer service, interest in vehicle engineering
* Education: GCSE English and Maths (grade 4 or equivalent) is desirable
* Other skills: Communication, IT, attention to detail, organisation, customer care, problem solving, presentation, administrative, numeracy, analytical, logical thinking, teamwork, creativity, initiative, patience, and physical fitness
