Overview
A leading organisation delivering operational cyber capabilities is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its growing technical team in Manchester. This is an opportunity to work on highly secure, mission-critical projects supporting cyber operations in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software solutions used within operational cyber programmes, working closely with engineers, analysts, and technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain software applications using Python and C++
* Build and enhance operational cyber tooling and supporting systems
* Contribute to software architecture, technical design, and engineering decisions
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end technical solutions
* Ensure high standards of code quality through testing, code reviews, and best practice
* Work within agile delivery teams focused on secure software development
Required Experience
* Strong commercial software engineering experience with Python and/or C++
* Experience working within secure environments such as defence, government, or cyber security
* Strong understanding of software engineering best practice and system design
* Experience developing on Linux-based platforms
* Ability to work effectively within collaborative engineering teams
* Active SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance
Desirable Experience
* Experience supporting operational cyber or cyber security projects
* Knowledge of networking concepts and systems programming
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
* Exposure to cloud technologies, Docker, or Kubernetes
