Primary purpose of the job:

* To assist the Registered Manager in the overall running of the home, to effectively supervise staff providing care for children and young people in a residential setting in accordance with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
* To ensure that the care provided is of the highest quality in an environment which supports and encourages children to reach their full potential.
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of the cared for children and young people.
* To ensure that the home operates within the National quality Care Standards and Regulations for Children's Homes and in both to develop a service that offers outstanding results for children and young people.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities

1. To cover the role of the Registered Manager in their absence.

2. To ensure the delivery of a high-quality service, according to the philosophy, targets and objectives for the service. To provide for children and young people a safe and stable environment.

3. To prioritise and assist the Registered Manager in the allocation of work within the team in order to maintain service provision and to meet the demand arising within Children's services, and to ensure that services are targeted, developed and delivered within policy and legal obligations.

4. To ensure the direction and motivation of the team by the provision of good quality and timely support and supervision (where required) for team members on a regular and frequent basis.

5. To carefully monitor staff members adherence to clear professional boundaries in relation to the children/young people in their care.

6. To ensure that documentation, record keeping, accounting, and communication is maintained, and that effective partnership working across the statutory, voluntary, and independent sectors is maintained.

7. To assist the Registered Manager in ensuring accountability for individual cases within the team's workload in accordance with policy and procedures, and for staff care and development of team members in accordance with policy and procedures.

8. To be included on the staffing rota undertaking shifts, working evenings, Bank Holidays and weekends and covering out of hours on a rota basis

9. To assist the Registered Manager to ensure the health and safety of staff and individuals, and the safety of equipment and operations within the team, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act.

10. To analyse performance and identify areas for improvement and development, and to assist the Registered Manager to ensure that these are addressed through team and personal development plans, with access to appropriate continuing professional development.

11. To work with the Registered Manager in the safe recruitment, induction, development and management of staff within organisational policies, to ensure that staff perform to a high standard and to maintain the required levels of competence and attendance. To support and assess relevant staff in relation to appropriate awards.

12. To assist the Registered Manager to ensure the development and regular use of quality assurance processes in the scrutiny of front-line practices, and to assist in providing monthly monitoring checks as required under the regulations and national quality standards.

13. To develop and maintain a child centred and systemic environment, in which children and young people can receive high quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care through positive role models. To liaise with other professionals, listening to and involving children and young people, staff, and parents/carers where possible to ensure that the service delivered reflects the needs of the cared for children/young people.

14. To encourage appropriate behaviour and manage challenging behaviour both within and outside the home.

15. To have the ability to communicate with the young people at a level of understanding to meet their individual needs.

16. To respond with the Registered Manager to ensure appropriate action is taken following internal and external inspections, audits, complaints and investigations.

17. To take responsibility for own professional development and participate in supervision, performance review development and training events as agreed.

18. To have a confident understanding, keep up to date, and comply with any legislation, statutory requirements, organisational policies and other regulations and procedures, in particular in relation to Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, GDPR, ensuring that they are being adopted and adhered to and ensure that staff are appropriately briefed or trained to enable them to do the same.

Working relationships:

1. To work in partnership with all other professionals (Seniors Manager, local authorities, commissioners and Partner Agencies) and to expand on networking to further develop the service.

2. To build appropriate relationships with children and young people to enable them to have the confidence to approach and raise any ideas or concerns.

3. To have the ability to communicate with the young people at a level of understanding to meet their individual needs.

Safeguarding:

1. Support the Registered Manager in ensuring that practice is carried out in accordance with the requirements of all relevant legislation and statutory guidance and the policies and procedures of EverHope Homes safeguarding arrangements.

2. Ensure that practice is carried out in accordance with the requirements of all relevant legislation and statutory guidance and the policies and procedures of Warrington Safeguarding Children's Board.

Equality and Diversity:

1. Ensure that needs of diverse groups of children and adults are identified and addressed.

2. Ensure that the needs of minority communities are appropriately reflected in placement decisions and homes development within the organisation.

3. The post holder must carry out their duties with full regard to EverHope Homes Equality and diversity, Health and Safety and organisational policies.

Health and Safety:

1. To act at all times with due regard to the organisations Health and Safety Policies and related Codes of Practice.

Other duties:

1. To work flexibly in the interests of the service. This may include undertaking other duties provided that these are appropriate to the employee's background, skills and abilities. Where this occurs, there will be consultation with the employee and any necessary personal development will be taken into account.

2. To require and ensure all information received and disseminated, whether verbal or written, concerning all employees, prospective employees or clients, is treated in the strictest confidence, and that all such information held is regulated and controlled in a similar manner.

3. To undertake evening, B/H and weekend work, including duty rotas

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £35,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
