Overview
You will form part of the supportive therapy team, working at Kingfisher Court to provide the Occupational Therapy (OT) service alongside a multidisciplinary team including arts therapists, physiotherapy, horticultural therapists and psychology. You will be supported by an experienced Occupational Therapist and the rest of the team to carry out specific individual work and facilitate a range of activity group interventions.
Responsibilities
* Work independently with service users to support them in developing and expanding their roles and routines. Experience of running groups would be advantageous.
* Plan and facilitate occupational groups guided by an Occupational Therapist as part of a large and well-established OT service; link regularly with peers and other OT staff across the trust.
* Carry out specific Occupational Therapy assessments as guided by an Occupational Therapist.
* Provide 1:1 and group interventions with service users, within Kingfisher Court and other acute wards as required.
* Help identify occupational needs to contribute to care plans and work within the OT team to deliver therapy provision in line with Trust standards and values.
* Promote a culture of engagement in meaningful occupation to enhance quality of life.

Requirements and Qualifications
* Knowledge of the Occupational Therapy role within a setting; intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and related packages.
* A Levels and/or Health and Social Care NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. Desirable: Degree in a relevant subject; experience of working with people with learning disabilities and/or mental health problems; experience of leading groups and 1:1 interventions; ability to work autonomously.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working in an OT-related setting; experience of service user and carer involvement in developing services; knowledge of Recovery principles; Functional Assessment Training.
