About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join our expanding professional services team based in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of audit clients, lead engagements from planning to completion, and oversee the work of audit seniors and trainees. This position offers a highly competitive salary in the range of £62,000-£70,000, reflecting the seniority and responsibility of the role.
Role Overview
As an Audit Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of audit and assurance assignments across multiple sectors, providing high-quality service and technical excellence. Based in Wolverhampton, you will play a key role in shaping the firm's audit approach, supporting junior staff, and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of audit clients across a range of industries.
* Plan, lead, and complete statutory audits in accordance with UK auditing standards (ISA(UK)s).
* Review audit files prepared by team members, ensuring compliance with professional standards.
* Liaise with client management and directors to communicate findings and recommendations.
* Manage budgets, monitor progress, and ensure delivery within timescales.
* Mentor and develop junior team members through on-the-job training and performance feedback.
* Keep up to date with FRS 102, auditing developments, and Companies Act compliance requirements.
* Assist partners with business development and client proposals where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
* ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with relevant post-qualification experience.
* Minimum 4-5 years in a UK accountancy practice, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial audit role.
* Excellent technical understanding of UK GAAP and ISA(UK)s.
* Strong communication skills and confidence in dealing directly with clients.
* Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines effectively.
* Leadership and coaching experience within a professional team.
Desirable Attributes
* Experience with SMEs, charities, or owner-managed businesses.
* Familiarity with audit software such as CaseWare, CCH, or IRIS.
* Working knowledge of tax and general advisory services.
