Light Simulation Engineer

Join the prestigious team shaping the future of vehicle lighting at a luxury automotive brand. We're looking for a highly experienced Simulation Engineer to support the development of advanced interior and exterior lighting systems through state-of-the-art optical simulation.
About the Role
You’ll play a key role in creating and analysing virtual models of vehicles and lighting components, delivering accurate simulation results and ergonomic assessments. Working within the Light Simulation & Photometry team, you’ll collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, and styling teams, as well as external suppliers, to optimise vehicle lighting performance and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and launch optical simulations using Ansys Speos, Catia V5, and HPC tools
* Analyse occupant vision, visual ergonomics, and lighting performance across interior and exterior domains
* Generate high-quality technical reports and presentations for engineering teams and management
* Maintain material libraries and simulation methods, ensuring alignment with real-world results
* Support feature owners and suppliers with data interpretation and solution development
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field
* Experienced in automotive light simulation and optical system integration
* Expertise in tools including Catia V5, Ansys Speos, Siemens Teamcenter, Dassault Enovia, and MS Office (inc. VBA)
* Strong knowledge of human vision, visual ergonomics, optical materials, and lighting legislation
* Skilled in 3D data preparation, mesh optimisation, scripting, and sensor placement
* Understanding of vehicle networks (CAN, LIN), LED systems, and electrical schematics
