Job overview
We are recruiting for an IV Access Specialist Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The IV Access Team at Lister Hospital has an exciting opportunity available to train a successful candidate to insert PICC's and be part of the team for a one year secondment, on full time hours.
You need to already show knowledge of CVAD's and have a track record of good PICC care for your patients. You need to already be expert at peripheral IV cannulation and have sound ANTT skills in your practice.
This is a training post. The trust is working towards enlarging the IV Access team in due course, and although a permanent position is not presently available, this secondment will equip you to practice as an IV Access Specialist Nurse should the opportunity arise. It will also equip you to be part of the IV Access Bank cohort.
At the heart of everything we do are our core values: Include, Respect, and Improve. We encourage you to embrace these values throughout the recruitment process and in your role with us.
Main duties of the job
Your main duties once trained, will be PICC, Midline and USS cannula insertion across the Trust.
You will also be expected to be a role model in advancing ANTT practice in clinical areas with regards to IV Access and be available to troubleshoot, solve IV Access related problems and work with your own caseload as well as support the team.
You will also be expected to provide ward based training for staff on CVAD's and PIVC's.
Knowledge of Vessel Health and Preservation Framework is desirable and you need to be keen to develop into an expert practitioner, advocating for patients, identifying and correcting poor practice and promoting meticulous attention to correct IV Access procedures.
You will also be expected to complete audits, collaborate with other stakeholders in the trust as well as engage with Clinical Governance initiatives.
