Job overview

We are seeking Band 5 Physiotherapists to join our Community Paediatric and Young Adult Physiotherapy Team. We have a fixed term part time band 5 opportunity and a full time substantive band 5 opportunity.

Our team of Paediatric and Young Adult Specialist Physiotherapists would be delighted to help you to develop your career in the exciting world of Children’s Physiotherapy. We are looking for innovative, motivated, adaptable individuals, who are passionate about physiotherapy, working with children, and working within the National Health Service.

The successful applicant will be required to have previous experience of working with children, and clinical experience working in neurology, orthopaedics and musculoskeletal settings at undergraduate level as a minimum. Is is essential that the successful applicant is able to demonstrate robust clinical reasoning skills and initiative, aswell as being able to lone work in a variety of settings including clinics, homes and educational settings (mainstream and specialist settings) across the City of Derby and Southern Derbyshire.

The service is forward thinking and supportive of new ideas. We operate flexible working arrangements. Regular supervision is provided and we encourage training and personal development. Access to transport is required and allowances are payable.

Preceptorship support is offered to newly qualified physiotherapists.

Ability to attend face to face interview is required.

Main duties of the job

To manage a designated caseload of children and young people (CYP) within a community setting (seen in clinics, homes and education settings) and provide appropriate physiotherapy input in line with service pathways, evidencing planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions.
To provide physiotherapy advice to parents, carers and education settings leading to an effective package of care using clinical reasoning and evidence based/child centred principles, thus ensuring a quality service is delivered.
To seek clinical support from a Senior Paediatric Physiotherapist as necessary. This role may include a rotational element to enable opportunities for experiencing the wider Paediatric Physiotherapy role.
To supervise and teach students and technical instructors and provide clinical supervision for colleagues in order that all staff achieve their full potential.
To participate in the planning and development of the service to ensure a quality service is delivered against the modernisation agenda.
To work closely with the multi-agency team to ensure physiotherapy is fully integrated into the CYP’s care plan.

Essential criteria

14. Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
15. HCPC Registered (Health & Care Professions Council)
16. Pre registration experience in relevant settings (community and work with children)

Desirable criteria

17. APCP member
18. Post registration physiotherapy experience
19. Experience working in Paediatrics/Learning Disabilities/Neurology.
20. Experience of working with children
21. Experience in a community setting
22. Evidence to support post-graduate courses and learning opportunities in Paediatric Physiotherapy relevant topics
23. Student placement in paediatric physio
24. CSP membership
