Purpose of the Role: The Engage 2 Employ Coach provides a collaborative programme “READY” that combines the expertise of St Basils’ Youth Voice & Engagement and Employability teams. READY stands for Resilience, Empower, Aspire, Developing You(th), a playful yet powerful expression of our mission to help young people build confidence, unlock potential, and prepare for the world of work. This programme brings together youth empowerment and employability development, ensuring every young person we work with is READY to take their next step with resilience, empowerment, aspiration, and personal growth. The role involves delivering a range of engaging group work programmes and accredited learning activities to support NEET young people aged 16–25 who have experienced homelessness and are resident within St Basils projects. The postholder will use creative and innovative methods to inspire participation, build confidence, and support young people to progress into positive education, employment, or training outcomes. In addition to group facilitation, the role will provide 1-to-1 advice, guidance, and mentoring, helping young people to develop tailored career action plans and overcome barriers to progression. The postholder will champion St Basils’ Youth Voice principles, ensuring that young people are actively involved in shaping the services that support them and that their voi ces influence organisational decision-making. As Engage 2 Employ Coach you will enjoy working flexibly across multiple projects, acting as a key link between departments, ensuring a joined up, consistent approach to supporting young people in Engagement, Education, Training and Work. The role will include occasional evenings and weekends, and will thrive on achieving targets, building positive relationships, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes for young people. Main Duties: Program Delivery and Learning. Ensure timely and effective communication and promotion of Engage 2 Employ programmes and initiatives across multiple projects, supporting the recruitment of young people and sustaining their engagement, in partnership with Progression Coaches. Support the development of resources and materials for programmes and initiatives. Plan and deliver designated accredited group activities focusing on employability skills, supporting young people to achieve recognised accreditation as part of the programme. Conduct 1-to-1 and group inductions for young people identified by project staff ensuring smooth access to the programme. Carry out Initial assessment to evaluate the learner’s attainment levels and identify individuals learning needs. Use lesson planning and structured learning schedules to meet contractual skill delivery outcomes. Apply creative and engaging teaching methods (e.g. sport arts digital media) to develop skills confidence employability, teamwork and citizenship skills. Assess learners work in line with accreditor standards and provide detailed feedback and support progression. Produce post programme reports on young people’s progress outcome and achievements. Undertake grant applications and purchasing activities, ensuring all expenditure is accurately recorded, fully evidenced, and appropriately annotated as grant-funded, where applicable. Coaching Mentoring and Support Build positive and trusting relationships with young people on both a group and 1-to-1 basis. Use coaching and mentoring approaches to motivate constructively challenge attitudes and behaviours. Facilitate 1-to-1 Sessions through the programme to provide high quality information, advice, guidance and pastoral support in accordance with Matrix Standards. Work with agreed KPI targets to support young people into employment, education or training opportunities. Support progression staff by providing specialist advice and guidance on young people’s engagement, education, qualifications and CV writing, working closely with the Partnership and Employer Liaison team within St Basils. Quality and Compliance Ensure all delivery meets internal quality standards and complies with St Basils toolkits and contractual obligations. Contribute to the ongoing review and development of St Basils Learning Programmes for young people. Maintain accurate and timely recording of all engagement and learning activities on relevant systems. Provide success stories, outcome data, and case studies to support internal and external reporting requirements. Support quality assurance processes for accredited and non- accredited programmes such as E&D/MST/Life Skills and contribute to the development of modules, where required. Youth Engagement Support and Coordinate St Basils Local Engagement Offer ensuring young people’s voices are central to St Basils project Grouping local service delivery and development. Facilitate support and encourage active involvement of House Reps across groupings ensuring their feedback informs service improvements Support the delivery of Time 2 Talk sessions Support and recruit Youth Advisory Board member when needed. Coordinate and contribute to Annual Youth Standards Review within groupings. Promote, encourage and refer young people to engage in research and focus group and staff recruitment. Be an active ambassador for St Basils Missions and Values and promote opportunities for young people to thrive. Work effectively in partnerships with internal colleagues, external agencies and community stakeholders. Work flexibly across locations including evening and weekends including residentials, where required. QUALIFICATION: Essential: GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above. NVQ Level 4 in Information, Advice & Guidance, Coaching & Mentoring, or a relevant qualification in Education & Training (AET), or willingness to work towards. Desirable: Approved Internal Verifier (AIV) qualification, or willingness to work towards a Level 4 qualification in Internal Quality Assurance. ROLE EXPERIENCE Essential: Experience of working with young people in any of the following settings: employability, education and training, welfare to work, youth work, probation/ criminal justice community/outreach or support work. Experience delivering/teaching group employability programmes Ability to deliver a range of different activities. Proven experience of working with hard-to-reach learners. Experience of delivering advice and guidance, together with employment, education and training knowledge to young people. Experience of developing and working in partnership with internal departments and external agencies, leading to positive outcomes for service users. Experience of utilising ICT packages including word, email internet explorer, digital media and equipment such as projectors, digital cameras. Desirable: Experience of delivering basic skills assessments Numeracy, Literacy and ICT KNOWLEDGE Essential Strong understanding of the challenges young people face to education, employment and training A sound knowledge of partner agencies that support young people in the local area Broad knowledge of welfare system Understand the issues and needs of St Basils’ young people and the ability to engage the m in a range of activities Desirable: Knowledge of Housing Policy and Youth Homelessness Knowledge and ability to advise young people on benefits, available resources and how to access them.
