Training and Working Pattern
* 12 weeks training, the first few weeks you will work Monday‑Friday 10:00‑18:00
* Afterwards, training will continue during your regular shift hours; 16:00‑00:00 Monday to Thursday
What You Will Do
* Follow a highly regulated end‑to‑end sterilisation/decontamination process on surgical instruments used in local NHS and private hospitals to ensure they can be used again safely.
* Ensure the effective preparation of sterile consumables (dressings, linen, surgical instruments, and equipment) by decontamination, inspection, assembly and packing within predefined quality standards.
* Rigorously check, wash, lay up and pack sets of theatre instruments to meet contract specifications.
* Safely operate and monitor machines and equipment (washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic and sterilisers) effectively.
* Record and log repairs and missing instruments or equipment on the Tracking and Traceability computer system (SynergyTrak).
* Return repaired instruments or equipment to stock or the appropriate coded sets or the Trust’s appointed person.

Required Experience
* TVQ or NVQ Level 2 in Decontamination or equivalent experience.
* Previous experience in Sterile Services and/or health related products.

Additional Information
Access to a Level 2 Healthcare Science Assistant Apprenticeship! This 12‑15 month fully funded programme allows you to study good scientific practice for the healthcare profession. It is universally applicable outside of STERIS. Completed on the job, you are given 20% of your working hours to study towards the qualification. Further apprenticeships are available throughout the course of your career.
