Our client is a leading and well-respected manufacturing company who specialise in the Petrochemical industry.
Due to increased demand, they are now looking for a Production Engineer.
Production Engineers define and work out how the product will be manufactured and/or assembled in production, including the design of tooling, ensuring the right quantity of components/products are delivered and aligned to support the speed of production. They review efficiencies and eliminate waste within the manufacturing process to deliver high-quality products/components to clearly defined standards.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
* Design, development, and control of manufacturing methods required to produce products in the most efficient and cost-effective way.
* Specify, design, and develop tooling as required to produce products per customer orders and other work.
* Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, machining, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
* Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and manufacturing methods/equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. This includes the selection of machinery in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
* Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
* Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished products and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
* Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
* Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, including the development, management, and control of documents issued to customers as per requirements.
* Maintain product and process database by writing computer programs and entering data.
* Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
* Support continuous improvement efforts through involvement in structured problem-solving and other activities using LEAN concepts.
Qualifications and Experiences required:
* Degree/Advanced/Higher Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent job experience.
* Good understanding of manufacturing methods around machining, welding, and assembly.
* Good quality judgment and decision-making capability.
* Team player with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate confidently and persuasively with a wide variety of people.
* Ability to collaborate and make pragmatic decisions that ensure compliance and quality while considering cost, schedule, and risk.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
* Expected global travel of 15% annually or as necessary to exceed plan and activities.
* Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the Internet.
* Proficient in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
* Previous experience within an OEM company.
Desirable:
* CAD/CAM Software (CAMWorks).
* CNC programming both on & offline capable.
* Previous experience working on machinery.
