The Role We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and customer-focused Sales Designer to join our team. This role combines design flair with strong sales skills, guiding customers from initial enquiry through to completed installation. You will work in our showroom, as well as conduct some home/site visits, to create bespoke designs and solutions that meet each client's needs, style, and budget.
This role is offered as a 12-month maternity cover position, with the potential for permanent employment for the right candidate to support our continued business expansion within the sales and design team.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales Excellence:
* Greet and engage showroom visitors, providing an outstanding customer experience
* Serve as the primary point of contact with exceptional customer service skills and a welcoming manner
* Guide customers through comprehensive showroom tours, discussing their requirements in detail
* Advise on the most suitable wood burners, fireplaces, and outdoor kitchen solutions for each customer's specific needs
* Confidently present and discuss design concepts with clients
* Maintain excellent phone manner when answering enquiries, making calls to new clients, and keeping in touch throughout the purchase and installation process
* Ensure customers receive first-class service from initial meeting through to aftercare completion
Design & Technical Skills:
* Understand client requirements and translate them into practical, creative design solutions
* Create detailed CAD drawings for clients using design software
* Take comprehensive design briefs and develop ideas collaboratively with clients
* Ensure customers achieve the fireplace or outdoor kitchen they envisage
* Prepare detailed design proposals, plans, and quotations with perfect accuracy
* Maintain comprehensive product knowledge across our full range, including outdoor kitchens, appliances, and wood-burning stoves
Data Management & Administration:
* Demonstrate full proficiency on CRM systems (we use Simpro on Mac desktops)
* Complete all relevant paperwork accurately and promptly with meticulous attention to detail
* Adapt quickly to new systems as business requirements evolve
* Ensure all customer records and documentation are properly maintained
Business Development & Targets:
* Meet and exceed agreed sales targets and KPIs
* Keep the showroom well-presented and up-to-date with displays and seasonal promotions
* Be proactive in completing all tasks
Essential Requirements:
* Previous experience in a design, sales, or showroom-based role (kitchens, bathrooms, interiors, or similar)
* Full proficiency on at least one CRM system, with demonstrable ability to adapt to new systems
* Strong interpersonal and exceptional customer service skills
* Creative flair with the ability to produce attractive, functional designs
* Confident IT skills – experience with CAD/design software advantageous (training provided if needed)
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
* Strong verbal communication abilities, both face-to-face and over the telephone
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to customer service and sales
* Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
* Full UK driving licence for site visits
* Professional, welcoming demeanor with a genuine 'can-do' attitude
