About Rebel Training

Rebel Training is a new provider of therapeutic learning support for vulnerable young people in Swindon. Our mission is to transform the quality of support and education for children and young people with SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities) and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs.

Our Alternative Learning Provision is designed to raise standards for those missing education by providing inclusive, adaptive, trauma-informed learning programmes and interventions. We empower students with the skills, resilience, and confidence they need to succeed in learning, life, and future careers.

Youth voice is central to everything we do. We co-create learning experiences with the young people we support, ensuring their views and needs shape their personalised journey.

Job Purpose

As a new alternative provision in Swindon, we are looking for passionate and creative SEND Tutors to join our outreach team.

This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a background in SEN/SEND, who are committed to re-engaging at-risk and vulnerable learners through innovative, creative, and flexible approaches.

We are seeking a Digitally Creative Tutor to deliver outreach sessions to a student with SEMH needs. The right candidate will be confident in using technology and digital tools to inspire learning, build relationships, and support reintegration into group education or mainstream schooling.

About the Role

You will provide 1:1 in a children’s home for a young person in Year 7 with SEMH needs (no formal diagnosis), who has been out of education for a significant time.The chosen provision, Impact Hub, will include:

* Digital, tech-based creative projects aligned to the student’s interests(these may include the use of Canva/Wix Website Education etc)
* Core English and Maths embedded within sessions
* Personal development, wellbeing, and resilience topics

The primary aim is to reignite a love for learning, rebuild confidence, and support the student's graduated reintegration into a suitable group or school setting.

Key Responsibilities

1. Subject Tuition: Deliver creative digital tuition that incorporates Maths and English, adapted for young people with SEMH.
2. Creative and Engaging Sessions: Plan and deliver personalised, interactive lessons that embed literacy and numeracy within digital or creative activities.
3. Trauma-Informed Practice: Provide holistic tutoring and mentoring that reflects students’ emotional needs, promotes wellbeing, and fosters a sense of safety and belonging.
4. Progress Monitoring: Carry out baseline assessments and track individual progress towards EHCP targets and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs).
5. Pastoral Support: Offer encouragement and guidance to help students overcome barriers, improve attendance, and develop life skills.
6. Partnership Working: Liaise with families, external professionals, and education settings to support student development.
7. Enrichment: Support access to trips, life skills sessions, and creative tutorials that build confidence and transferable skills.
8. Safeguarding: Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, equality, British Values, and Prevent duty at all times.
9. Professional Conduct: Work in line with the organisation’s Code of Conduct, health and safety policies, and GDPR requirements.

Essential Requirements

* A passion for working with young people with SEMH, SEND, or additional needs
* A minimum of 2 years’ experience in tutoring, teaching or youth work
* Level 2/Grade C or above in Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent)
* Evidence of further training/ qualifications.
* Ability to produce creative and inspiring lessons using digital technology
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
* Ability to build strong relationships with families, schools, and professionals
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
* Two professional references
* Legal right to work in the UK

Desirable Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or other relevant teaching qualifications (or willingness to work towards additional qualifications for future permanent roles)
* Registered on the DBS Update Service
* Knowledge of therapeutic, creative, or youth work approaches

3. Undergo an Enhanced DBS check
