Finance and Compliance Administrator – community energy (part time 3 days/week)

Summary

Communities for Renewables CIC (CfR) is recruiting a Finance and Compliance Administrator to join our team in Cornwall. The role is part time 3 days per week.

The role would suit a diligent and resourceful administrator with experience in sales and purchase administration and data entry (using Xero or similar), company secretary duties, regulatory compliance and dealing with customer enquiries.

About CfR

CfR is not for profit company which helps communities around the UK to develop, finance and manage their own local power generation. Our experience includes:

* Delivered community owned renewables from solar panels on school roofs to megawatt-scale community-owned solar farms
* £78million of capital raised including bank project finance, council loans, social investment funds and £17million from over 2,000 community investors
* Manage 50 megawatts of community solar across 7 localities (1/4 of UK community-owned solar) and a community wind turbine in Wales projected to generate over £30million of surplus income (after operating and finance costs) to support environmental, fuel poverty and community projects in their localities over the next 25+ years

The community energy projects we manage are all governed by volunteer directors and run on a not for profit basis with surplus incomes after operating and finance costs used to fund community projects in their local communities.

The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for administration of a range of tasks across the 8 community energy groups we manage which between them are made of 19 companies.

Company secretary and compliance

* Company secretary tasks including maintaining statutory books, filing annual returns and keeping Companies House and FCA Mutuals Register (which is the equivalent of Companies House for co-operatives) records up to date.
* Dealing with enquiries from the investor members of our community energy clients regarding probate matters, share purchase and sales and interest payments. Most of these are referred onto the share registrar but CfR needs to ensure they are efficiently dealt with.
* Organising Annual Generation Meetings online or in person.
* Maintaining and updating company policies and compliance administration.

Finance administration

Supporting CfR's Finance Manager with:

* Bank account administration (e.g. applications for new accounts and KYC checks).
* Processing invoices and entering into Xero sales and purchase ledger.
* Setting up bank payments.
* Bank reconciliations.

Team administration support

* Supporting CfR's Communications and Impact Manager with administration of community grant fund applications and awards across the community energy enterprises we manage.
* Answering the primary phone lines and checking CFR and community energy clients' email accounts and post and ensuring enquiries are dealt with.
* Supporting CfR's team task scheduling using our task management software.
* Helping to organise small-scale events such as local school visits to a community solar farm.
* CRM management.
