Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Digital Systems Data Specialist to join our Pharmacy Informatics Team. This pivotal role supports the deployment and optimisation of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) across the Trust, ensuring safe, effective, and compliant prescribing practices. The successful candidate will contribute to formulary development, digital systems integration, and the creation of analytical dashboards to enhance clinical decision-making and patient safety. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the postholder will provide expert guidance on digital medicines initiatives and uphold data integrity and governance standards. Additionally, contributing to national digital medicines strategies. Applicants must possess substantial experience in clinical pharmacy and digital systems. Responsibilities
* The postholder will be part of the pharmacy informatics/digital team, supporting the Lead Pharmacist Informatics in the deployment, management, and assurance of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) across the Trust. They will use their clinical knowledge and knowledge of the Drug Tariff to ensure medications are prescribed safely and appropriately on FP10s.
* Work closely with the pharmacy formulary team to design, build, and maintain formularies for the Trust and its system partners. They will support the development of user-facing dashboards to help clinical teams interpret prescribing data and drive improvements in patient safety.
* Support the implementation of digital medicines initiatives and contribute to the development, validation, and ongoing maintenance of wider pharmacy digital systems.
* Help provide assurance on the safe and effective use of electronic medicines management systems, in collaboration with the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) and Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO).
* Promote patient safety, ensure secure and reliable system access, maintain data integrity, and ensure systems meet the clinical, regulatory and operational needs of the Trust, its staff, and patients.

Candidate requirements
Experience – Essential
* Demonstrable significant experience post registration in a hospital-based post.
* Previous significant experience of working with clinical IT systems.
* Experience of working with clinicians and a proven track record for influencing change within a directorate or specialist role.
* Evidence of basic teaching and tutoring in a hospital setting through training others (e.g. pre-registration / foundation training pharmacists / pharmacy technicians).
* Broad clinical pharmacy or medicines management expertise and experience.
* Experience of providing evaluated information on drug expenditure.
* Experience interpreting and working with drug budgets and drug tariff.
* Advanced use of Excel.
Desirable
* Experience of Business Objects
* Advanced use of SQL to extract data from large complex databases
* Experience in Health Informatics ideally in a Business Analyst role
Skills
* Be able to provide highly complex digital systems information and impart knowledge to all levels of healthcare professionals (up to and including senior consultants).
* Able to analyse highly complex information relating to medicines and their uses.
* Able to make sound judgments and act as a specialist for Pharmacy Digital System issues in the Trust.
* Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with staff and patients.

Knowledge
* Knowledge of regulations and legislation relevant to digital systems.
* In-depth knowledge of medicines administration processes and medicines management.
* Understanding of safe pharmacy practice including medicines legislation and professional code of ethics.
* Knowledge of national digital strategy for the NHS.
* Up-to-date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice (e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work).
* Adherence to SOPs and legislation; knowledge of Information Governance requirements.
* Understanding patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications
* MPharm (Pharmacist only) / BTEC level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent
* Registered as a pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Postgraduate/post-registration qualification in relevant area or equivalent experience.
* Specialist higher qualification (Diploma) in IT or Clinical Pharmacy or related area or portfolio demonstrating equivalent through senior level experience and relevant short courses.
Desirable: Specialist training in leadership; Specialist training in clinical informatics.
Other
