About the role
Are you passionate about making a positive impact on people's lives? Do you thrive on helping others and want to be part of a team that truly cares?
Hartrigg Oaks is a continuing care retirement community enabling people aged 60 plus to remain independent and live life to the full.
Our Activities Organiser is integral to this by connecting with our residents to ensure they have access to a wide choice of events and activities within the development and the wider community.
We’d love our residents to be a big part of life in New Earswick and this role will create the opportunities for this by opening up the village to our residents and our development up to the wider community.
There will be a need to work occasional evening and weekends to meet the needs of the service.
Some key areas of responsibility will include:
* Organising indoor and outdoor activities in line with residents’ expectations such as crafts, food led events and seasonal activities and to encourage residents to join in.
* Coordinating trips/outings as appropriate such as theatre, shopping, local places of interest.
* Facilitating resident meetings to discuss ideas to improve the range of activities offered and to ensure they reflect the changes in residents’ expectations.
* Undertaking fundraising activities for the resident’s amenity fund.
* Completion of activity risk assessments, as appropriate and liaising with care staff as necessary, regarding any special requirements residents may have.
About you
As our Activities Organiser, you will have a caring and compassionate nature, flexible to respond to the needs of residents and their families and the service. A naturally organised person who is at ease building and growing relationships, you will be able to work independently and at pace, taking the initiative where needed. With previous team working experience, you will be a strong communicator, a good listener, able to work creatively within the constraints of a budget and have good numeracy and cash handling skills.
As you will be developing, initiating, and implementing new ideas and projects, we’d ideally like you to have previous experience of organising events and activities with working knowledge of health and safety. If you have previous experience and working knowledge of working in the care field, then even better!
If you think you can make a difference to our resident by encouraging them to lead a full active life, then we’d love to hear from you!
Please note that this role will be subject to a DBS check.
