We are seeking a Transport Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day transport operations in Northampton, to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Shift Pattern 4 on 4 off
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise a team of drivers and transport staff.
* Monitor and manage daily transport operations.
* Conduct daily debriefs with drivers and manage driver performance.
* Liaise with the warehouse and customer service teams.
* Support the Transport Manager in achieving operational KPIs.
* Ensure vehicle defects and maintenance issues are reported and resolved promptly.
* Assist in accident investigations, incident reporting, and the implementation of corrective actions.
* Maintain accurate records relating to driver hours, training, holidays, and sickness.
* Uphold & Promote health & safety standards.
* Support new driver inductions and ongoing driver training initiatives.
* Handle and resolve transport-related queries.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
* Previous experience in a transport supervisory or similar role within a logistics/distribution environment.
* Strong understanding of transport legislation, drivers' hours, and tachograph regulations.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Proficient in using transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
* Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
Desirable:
* CPC qualification desirable but not essential.
* Experience working on a shift pattern or in a 24/7 operation.
* Familiarity with route optimisation software and vehicle telematics.
