About the Role
We are working with a well-established organisation within the construction and operational sector to recruit an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join their growing team in Plymouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident safety professional who is passionate about driving a positive health & safety culture across live construction, refurbishment, and operational environments.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in promoting best practice, ensuring compliance, and supporting continuous improvement across all aspects of HSE performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide expert health & safety guidance across construction, refurbishment, and operational activities
2. Act as a visible safety leader, promoting a proactive H&S culture on site
3. Strong focus on CDM Regulations 2015 compliance and best practice
4. Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
5. Deliver and coordinate inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing H&S training
6. Support contractor management, including onboarding, audits, and performance monitoring
7. Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 standards
8. Review and approve RAMS, safe systems of work, and permits
9. Carry out site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
10. Maintain and improve Health & Safety Management Systems
11. Monitor, analyse, and report on HSE performance and trends
12. Liaise with external bodies, including the HSE, during inspections and audits
About You
13. Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015
14. NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety (essential)
15. Proven experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, heavy industry, or processing environments
16. Strong understanding of ISO 45001 (ISO 14001 desirable)
17. Experience conducting incident investigations (Root Cause Analysis / ICAM)
18. Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and H&S management systems
19. Confident communicator with ability to influence at all levels
20. Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
21. Environmental qualifications (desirable)
