Job summary
This role will support the Trust's and the Emergency Operations Centre's (EOC) approach to quality assurance and quality improvement and identifies priorities in the five domains of quality, aligned with the Care Quality Commission regulatory framework: caring, responsive, effective, well-led and safe for the mental health clinical portfolio within EOC.
The role will assist to develop and support Trusts Mental health initiatives and mental health pathways for the Clinical Hub within EOC leading to improved patient experience and supporting the Trusts/Wider NHS Agendas.
This role will assist in providing the Emergency Operations Centre oversight for and coordinate the delivery of the relevant elements of the EMAS Quality Improvement and Clinical Strategies. They will also provide clinical leadership for mental health clinicians working within the EOC Clinical Hub.
This role is responsible for the mental health aspects of EOC Clinical quality improvement development and mentorship, supporting the remainder of the leadership structure which is focused on the wider aspects of clinical service delivery. The role will work across EOC to support and improve service delivery.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for supporting and implementing local strategies to enhance patient care and ambulance service quality within the EOC. Leads quality improvement projects focused on efficiency, cost reduction, and better outcomes for mental health patients.
Identifies and recommends improvements in mental health practices to support performance targets. Manages local risks with potential Trust-wide impact.
Collaborates with EOC teams to drive change, fostering inclusive staff engagement. Develops and manages KPIs for mental health clinicians, ensuring consistent, high-quality care.
Provides supervision and oversight for Clinical Hub mental health staff, ensuring quality and audit standards. Offers clinical leadership in complex mental health case coordination.
Promotes self-care and independence for mental health patients. Supports professional development and leadership of Clinical Hub clinicians.
Contributes to the design and delivery of tailored mental health training for EOC staff. Aids in identifying and managing high-risk patients to prevent mental ill health.
Partners with senior leaders to drive innovation and service development. Engages in multidisciplinary forums to manage frequent mental health callers through care planning and case reviews.
