Overview
Join to apply for the TAVI/structural Fellow role at IPC Asia Pacific. The post is based at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the consultants who perform the different structural interventions, and will be assigned a named educational supervisor. There will be exposure to all aspects of structural intervention as well as opportunities to maintain skills in coronary intervention. Outpatient work will include a weekly TAVI clinic and occasional PCI clinics (no more than 2 clinics per week in total). The appointee will be responsible for the management of TAVI patients and also for the post-procedure management of other structural intervention patients. There will be an opportunity to gain experience in other interventions such as LAAO, PFO/ASD closure, and percutaneous VSD closure. The successful candidate will be expected to become fully competent in TAVI and other procedures by the end of their 12 months with the aim to take up a consultant post which includes structural intervention. We would expect a suitably trained appointee to perform at least 80-100 first operator transfemoral cases by the end of their fellowship.
Responsibilities
* Outpatient clinics: One TAVI clinic per week; One general clinic per week; Available for pre-assessment
* Catheter labs: Twice weekly transfemoral TAVI list, monthly transapical TAVI list, monthly structural intervention list under general anaesthesia
* Ward work: Regular ward rounds for TAVI patients; supervise the day-to-day work of the junior doctors in conjunction with other trainees; participate in the registrar of the week rota (1 in 15)
* Attend weekly TAVI and structural intervention MDTs

There is a full shift rota in place, 1:15 band 1a inclusive of prospective cover.
