Job reference: Croydon Workshop. Job type: Permanent contract. A role in a commercial vehicle workshop environment with a leading fleet operator. Potential to earn over £50k. Working hours: Full time - 39.5 hours per week, rotating shifts (week 1: 06:00 – 14:30, week 2: 10:30 – 19:00). 1 in 3 Saturdays required (weekday day off).

Role summary
The Shift Supervisor provides pivotal support to the Workshop management team. Reporting to the Fleet Workshop Manager, you will lead operations across a shift to meet production planning and control requirements, deploying processes and staff resources to ensure safe operations, high quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
* Lead weekly team meetings and shift huddles; participate in remedial actions for conduct issues while supporting technicians’ wellbeing after sick absence
* Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a range of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment as required
* Use personal toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs of light/heavy goods vehicles
* Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in modern, fully equipped workshops
* Manage stock control and ensure timely completion of work orders and vehicle documentation to meet business and legal requirements
Qualifications
* Experienced leader: able to manage a team of vehicle technicians with strong knowledge of H&S and the ability to communicate technical issues
* Qualified mechanic: advanced level qualification (IMI Level 3 in Light or Heavy vehicle or equivalent); have own toolkit for standard repairs
* Varied vehicle experience: proven experience on a wide range of vehicles (e.g., LCV/HGV)
* Valid UK driving license: full manual UK license; HGV license with trailer experience preferred
* High working standards: pride in work and commitment to quality
* Flexible to service demands: able to work on a flexible shift rota and support the team as needed
