PHP WordPress Developer
Salary: £30k+ dependent on experience and additional skills.
Overview
We are looking for a talented WordPress and software developer to join our dynamic and rapidly growing Digital Services team. You will have at least 3 years of commercial experience and be able to demonstrate a wide variety of development work within your professional portfolio.
As a WordPress and software developer you’ll work as a core part of the Gambit Nash team to deliver digital solutions for our clients and our own products and services. You’ll play a key role in assisting with briefs, concept development, and turning these into workable new web‑based and software solutions.
You will work across the full suite of digital activity, so you need to be competent in coding using PHP 8.4, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript as a core skillset, and be able to create websites compatible with all browsers, platforms and responsive to the full range of mobile devices. You’ll work alongside the team to implement, execute and enhance work created and will be able to test work to ensure excellent user experience.
With WordPress at the core of the role, day‑to‑day activities will include the upkeep and maintenance of existing WordPress sites, as well as scoping, development and delivery of new WordPress sites, including bespoke plugins, themes, and integrations ranging from small business brochure sites to 100k+ SKU WooCommerce sites for Gambit Nash and our clients.
We’ll need you to be an expert in WordPress and be able to manage projects from concept through to go live. Additional technical skills you’ll understand include Git, jQuery, Ajax, and MySQL/MariaDB.
With a team focus on secure software development, you will follow best practices to ensure that both new and existing code is secure and maintainable, following best practices for secure design, secure coding, security testing, and vulnerability management.
Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of commercial WordPress development experience.
* Strong portfolio demonstrating a wide variety of development work.
* Proficient in PHP (preferably 8.4), HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
* Experience with Git, jQuery, Ajax and MySQL/MariaDB.
* Ability to create responsive, cross‑browser compatible websites.
* Familiarity with secure software development practices.
