Lecturer – Art and Design, CLARUS EDUCATION
Uxbidge, Part time (14.4 hours per week / 2 days), Permanent, £12,982 to £18,104.
Our Creative Arts section provides our learners with the skills and knowledge with which to progress onto a relevant degree at HE level or directly into a rewarding career within the creative industries. We work closely with UAL, our awarding body, to ensure our courses are both subject and industry relevant.
We are seeking a part time Lecturer in Art and Design to join our successful team and deliver across a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 3. You will deliver art and design techniques and processes such as Fine Art, 3D design, Printmaking, Ceramics and Graphics. In addition, you will assist in developing industry links for live briefs and student work experience.
You will need to possess a degree in Art or a related subject, with excellent subject knowledge and teaching experience in Art and Design up to Level 3. Ideally, you have current or recent experience as a practitioner in Art and Design and will have the ability to engage and inspire learners. If you do not currently possess a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the Further Education sector, you will be supported to obtain this by the College.
It is expected that the working days for this post will be Mondays and Tuesdays or Wednesdays and Thursdays, to be agreed.
Design and Delivery of Programmes
* Teaching on UAL Art and Design programmes at levels 1, 2 and 3.
* Delivering Art & design techniques and processes such as Fine Art, 3D design, Printmaking, Ceramics and Graphics.
* Work both on-site and off-site with students during practical exercises.
* Forge links with industry for visiting speakers and work experience.
* Contribute to the production of promotional material (videos, newsletters, etc.).
* Assist in the co‑ordination of the above programmes.
* Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
* Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
* Deliver and assess Functional Skills.
* Integrate Functional Skills into the curriculum.
* Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
* Implement the School’s policies on assessment and homework.
* Participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the programme.
Qualifications
* Degree in the relevant subject area.
* GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent, or willingness to achieve.
* Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. PGCE, DET) or willingness and ability to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification.
Knowledge and experience
* Teaching experience in Art and Design up to Level 3.
* Experience of delivering UAL programmes.
* An ability to teach a range of Art & Design techniques and processes.
* Current/recent profile as a practitioner in the subject area of Art and Design.
* Up to date knowledge of the relevant subject area.
* The ability to enthuse and inspire students.
* Good communication skills, written and verbal.
* Good interpersonal skills.
* Good classroom practice.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
