An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Royal Mail as a Technical Maintenance Manager, responsible for overseeing our Swansea and Cardiff Mail Centre.

Reporting into the Regional Maintenance Manager, you'll be responsible for constructing an environment where the engineering teams are unconstrained to create, facilitate and maintain the most efficient letter, parcel, collection, delivery processes and facilities.
About the role
A key role in the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring the maintenance technicians, and delivering the maintenance strategy, whilst ensuring compliance with standards and legislation. Youll be accountable for delivering key business performance indicators and asset availability within financial constraints.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Ensure compliance to Health and Safety legislation and Royal Mail policies and standards
- Deliver the local maintenance strategy - Provide leadership and direction for the entire automation team, developing the capabilities of machine operators, technicians, and apprentices- Fully participate as a senior member of the Plant Leadership Team
- Main liaison between the machinery manufacturer's technical team and Royal Mail
- Support engineering continual professional development and the talent pipeline
- Drive day to day automation performance and ensure achievement of automation KPIs
- Efficiently manage the engineering budget
- Effective inventory management of engineering stock ensuring efficiency and sustainability
- Drive, plan and implement continuous improvement activities to enrich and sustain quality automation asset performance
About you
To truly excel in this role, you'll possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:
- A minimum of BTEC Level 5 or HNC qualification in an engineering or scientific discipline
- Qualified in machinery directive (PUWER_CE assessor) or willing to undertake the level of development to achieve the qualification
- IOSH Managing Safety certified and sound practical experience of managing safety in an automated plant environment- A high level of leadership, communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills- Ability to coach, develop and build an effective team
- Knowledge of maintenance strategies and cost base models for asset management
- Experience of managing and leading a team of maintenance professionals
- Ability to identify and resolve problems using continuous improvement tools and technique
