Offer description

ABP is one of Europe's leading beef processors. We have built our success on entrepreneurship, technological investment and a deep knowledge of the sectors in which we operate. As key stakeholders in the integrity of the food supply chain we are focused on ensuring the full traceability of our products.

Our core business - ABP Beef - is supported by its renewable, pet food and protein divisions, which combine to ensure the value of by-products is maximized and the environmental impact of the business and our customers is minimized. Our company has doubled the size of its business in the past 10 years, and continues to seek additional growth opportunities through organic initiatives and potential acquisitions.

Opportunity Details

We lead the industry with our agricultural programmes providing the commercial teams with the best possible platform to develop business with a wide range of customers. Our graduate programme will provide individuals with a thorough understanding of a range of agricultural issues and initiatives from cattle performance to the seasonal supply of UK lamb to the current customer trends and relaying this back to the farming community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate who wishes to pursue a career in the red meat industry. It will provide the individual with the practical experience of working for one of the largest meat businesses in Europe.

Graduate programme

This 24-month graduate programme is designed to give you experience working with our supplier base and also our customers. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are key; the ability to conduct conversations at farm level through to stakeholders in our business is priority. You will be travelling across the country to arrange farm visits and events, speaking to farmers on projects and retailer aligned schemes, through to stakeholder meetings in head office. The majority of this placement will be office-based but we will do our best to even this out with on farm experience.

This placement will ensure you're a key part of a team that is improving the efficiency of the beef and lamb industry in the UK.

Knowledge & Experience

We're looking for graduates studying for a degree in Agriculture. The candidate should have experience of working on beef and/or lamb farms and be competent and proficient in communicating with others.

In addition individuals should:

* Have a clear interest in developing a career within the Ag/food industry
* Have a good eye for detail and be methodical in their approach
* Be great communicators with an ability to influence others
* Be keen on detail, both practically and theoretically.
* Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
