HGV Technician

Recruitment Solutions are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our Clients dynamic team based in Beenham, near Reading, Berkshire RG7. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair heavy goods vehicles efficiently. This role requires a hands-on approach, utilising your expertise in Service/Diagnostics/Repair to ensure our fleet remains in optimal condition.

About the role
3. Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
4. Diagnose faults using schematics and technical manuals to identify issues accurately.
5. Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively for assembly and disassembly of vehicle components.
6. Carry out inspections and tests on vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
7. Assist with the repair of HGV Vehicles as part of the maintenance programme.
8. Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and services performed.
9. Engage in heavy lifting as necessary during the repair process
About you
Requirements
10. Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
11. City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in HGV maintenance preferred, though applicants with 10+ years of hands-on HGV experience are also welcome.
12. Hold a current HGV licence (Class 2 minimum) and digital tachograph card, with a good understanding of tachograph system (desirable).
13. Has completed 35 hours’ driver CPC and hold a valid driver CPC card (desirable).
14. Strong electrical experience, including troubleshooting electrical systems within vehicles.
15. Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and equipment used in vehicle maintenance.
16. Ability to read and interpret schematics for effective diagnosis of vehicle issues.
17. Experience in welding and fabrication is highly desirable.
18. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
19. Capability to perform heavy lifting as part of daily duties.
