Job Introduction Senior Outdoor Practitioner £34000 - £36500 As a Senior Outdoor Practitioner your mission is to support an industry leading Outdoor provision for children residing within the Care sector. Supported by the Outdoor Activity Manager and Outdoor Team Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and oversight of a team of Outdoor Practitioners. Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, due to the nature of the work, flexibility within these hours is required based on the needs of the children. Annual Leave: You will receive 33 days per annum; our holiday year runs from March to February. Additional leave: at 2 years and 5 years’ service. Main Responsibilities Plan and deliver an engaging, progressive and developmental outdoor programme for each child. This may involve a programme of transition and engagement, building safety and a strong positive relationship with each child. From organising and facilitating daily outdoor session through to expeditions across the remote space in the UK. Ensure a working and robust outdoor risk management system is in place that supports our teams to be able to implement and follow all plans for safety and risk management. Responsible for, and a named person on, our outdoor activity risk management documents (AALA, Outdoor Policies, Risk Assessments, Kit Management, and PPE checks). Oversee the day-to-day supervision of the Outdoor Practitioner team ensuring regular supervisions are held with a focus on CPD and building and increasing skill sets - ensuring all Outdoor Practitioners are current, competent and qualified to practice. Key Qualities That We Look For A full and broad range of technical outdoor leadership qualifications: Mountain Leader Rock climbing Instructor Level 2 Mountain bike Leader Paddlesports qualifications (inc WWSR) And a minimum of 2 high level outdoor qualifications across: Mountaineering, rock climbing and winter mountain sports Paddle sports Mountain biking Ghyll scrambling and gorge walking with white water rescue A leadership or management qualification or industry experience in leading teams Full Driving Licence essential. Successful collaboration to deliver and plan outdoors educational activities. The ability to engage and motivate our teams. Support the aims and ethos of A Wilderness Way.
