Learning and Skills Tutor (Maths and English)

The City of York Council, York Learning team is looking for an appropriately qualified, experienced and motivated tutor to teach English and/or Maths. This is likely to be a combination of online teaching and face-to-face sessions in community venues. You must be available for at least one evening per week.
Responsibilities
* Teach English and/or Maths to adults (Entry Level to Level 2/GCSE).
* Deliver the English/Maths curriculum to adults aged 19+, with awareness of the rewards and challenges of teaching adult learners.
* Work as part of a small, creative team to engage learners and deliver tutoring sessions.
* Occasionally work with people aged 16–25, adults with additional needs, or workplace apprentices.
* Potential for additional hours; owning transport is desirable.
* Utilise IT effectively with online platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom).
Qualifications and requirements
* Skilled in English or Maths with a passion for teaching.
* Excellent IT skills and familiarity with online teaching platforms.
* Ability to converse with members of the public in English to CEFR level C1 (fluency and spontaneity in communication).
* Hybrid working arrangements are available; contractual location will be the designated council office for the team.

* This is a part-time tutor role; salary is pro rata of the advertised figure depending on hours agreed.
