This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively across the manufacturing and engineering environment.

You will play a key role in developing new products, supporting existing production programmes and helping drive continuous improvement activities across the business.

As a Design Engineer, you will support the technical delivery of product development activities and work closely with cross‑functional teams including Manufacturing, Product Assurance and Technical Services.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Designing and developing new PPE products and supporting existing products in manufacture
* Supporting products through the full development lifecycle from concept through to production
* Creating and reviewing 3D CAD models and engineering drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
* Supporting design reviews, technical documentation and engineering change activities
* Assisting with tooling, qualification and process development activities
* Supporting continuous improvement, root cause analysis and corrective action investigations
* Working closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
* Participating in New Product Development (NPD) activities and stage gate reviews
* Producing technical reports and engineering documentation
* Supporting technical troubleshooting and risk analysis activities

Requirements

This position is well suited to someone who is a proactive and technically capable engineer, enjoys hands‑on development work and problem solving within a fast‑paced engineering environment.

The role is primarily based at our Haydock site and involves a combination of office, laboratory and manufacturing shop floor activities.

You will work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Assurance and Technical Services teams as part of a wider product development environment.

Limited travel may occasionally be required.

* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering/scientific discipline
* Minimum 5 years’ experience within product design and development
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently
* Detail‑oriented and solutions‑focused approach

We’d also particularly welcome experience in:

* Experience taking products from concept development through to production readiness
* Strong understanding of engineering drawings and 3D CAD modelling
* Experience with PPE or RPE products and standards
* Understanding of ISO9001 and/or AS9100 environments
* Familiarity with New Product Introduction (NPI/NPD) processes
* Experience supporting manufacturing or tooling development
