Deputy Chief Nurse Officer – London

London: The Harley Street Clinic and Princess Grace Hospital (The Harley Street Campus)
Full time: 37.5 hours per week
Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Nurse Leader to join as Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at our newly integrated team at The Harley Street Campus comprising of: The Harley Street Clinic, HCA UK at UCH, The Princess Grace Hospital, Leaders in Oncology Care (LOC) and Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI).

As one of three Deputy Chief Nurses, you will provide clinical operational leadership for a designated care group which will consist of either urgent care, medicine and outpatient services or surgery, cardiology, perioperative and critical care services. In addition to this you will have delegated responsibility from the CNO to lead campus wide areas of practice and quality improvement to support the consistent delivery of outstanding clinical practice.

Working in conjunction with the CNO, you will act as a central point of contact for patients, staff and consultants and you will develop clinical leadership and scope of practice across the hospital, while ensuring that outstanding care is always provided for our patients and medical teams.

This key leadership position is a developmental post for someone who aspires to develop into a Chief Nursing Officer in the future.


Duties and responsibilities

* To work effectively with the medical staff in order to ensure positive outcomes for each patient pathway.
* Promote and initiate innovation and new ideas in methods of care delivery and effective use of resources. Promoting the principles if QI in all that we do together as a senior nurse team.
* Participate in clinical and organisational audit for the maintenance and continuous development of quality services.
* Work collaboratively with governance colleagues to ensure training needs are delivered and maintained of our teams in managing patient safety, quality and risk.
* Participate in the investigation of adverse events, clinical incidents and complaints. You will need to bring a strong knowledge and skill set relating to the management of patient safety and promotion of a safety culture as this underpins our daily work and how we work with each other.
* Lead on the development and management of effective recruitment and retention strategies.
* In conjunction with the Heads of department, to continually review nursing workload, and utilise all resources effectively to deliver quality care at all times.
* Participate in the annual preparation of the hospital and departmental budgets and finance planning process.
* You will participate on the director on call rota and you will need to bring experience of supporting colleagues and emergency business continuity procedures within acute health care.
* Support unit leaders and heads of department in managing services within allocated budgets and lead the growth of service lines.
* You will have experience of leading patient experience across healthcare and your approach will prioritise the delivery of exceptional care and support to our colleagues at all times.
* Support the development of clinical practice and education through leading formal and informal approaches to nurse and AHP education.

What you’ll bring

* RN, adult NMC Registration
* Values and behaviours which are aligned to HCA and the delivery of high quality person centred care in all that we do.
* Master’s level qualification within area of clinical practice or leadership of healthcare services.
* Leadership qualification (or working towards)
* At least 5 years’ experience in a senior leadership role, managing multiple service lines
* Experience managing nursing fitness to practice concerns
* Completed training in PSIRF, confident to run AAR’s and PSIIs
* Experience in managing budgets
* Experience in investigating and responding to complex incidents and complaints
* Evidence of strong influencing skills
* Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
* Experience of preparing for and participating in CQC regulatory activity
* Experience of leading patient experience and co-design activities within services.
* Experience of leading or participating within clinical research.
