The Baker Hughes internal title for this role is: Lead Engineer, Interdisciplinary, Service Engineering
As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for technical activities contributing to the delivery of products, solutions, and systems for the SP&S organization, including technical improvement of existing products and components.
Responsibilities
* Interpreting customer technical specifications, organizing and leading design reviews to ensure all customer requirements, technical risks and lessons learned are captured.
* Developing conceptual design requirements and layouts for review following company design process management (DPM) protocols.
* Creating work packs for delegation, reviewing detail drawings, creating test procedures and leading small teams.
* Creating layouts, specifying functional components, evaluating stackups, creating assembly procedures, supporting manufacturing & workshop, and undertaking calculations.
* Collaborating with Engineering or cross‑functional initiatives on company priorities such as quality, cost control, and design standard updates to improve product competitiveness.
* Creating detailed designs for manufacture and providing material for design reviews, including materials and environmental reviews, using relevant software to prepare general drawings.
* Undertaking design verification, including tolerance studies, design reliability, design for manufacture, simple failure analysis, design reviews, and calculations for verification purposes.
* Applying design for manufacture principles for turning, machining, drilling, milling, and welding processes to ensure designs are suitable and allow for efficient manufacture and assembly.
* Supporting client operations, shop operations and the 24/7 on‑call engineering service.
Qualifications
* Have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing).
* Project Engineer with strong experience in leading projects in oil and gas, subsea and manufacturing domains.
* Be familiar and up to date with industry standards such as API 6A, 17D, 17G.
* Have proven experience in an engineering role.
* Have sound oral and written communication skills.
* Have good interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Have the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
* Have a permanent work permit in the UK.
