We are looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial Team in Wakefield. The main purpose of the Assistant Quantity Surveyor is to support the Commercial Team by providing assistance to the Senior Surveyor in their day-to-day duties to ensure that all financial aspects of our schemes are reported and controlled.
Responsibilities
* Measurement, take offs, procurement of materials and subcontractors to complete tender submission using first principles where required
* Completing valuations and reporting to Commercial Manager and Director
* Assisting with review of main contracts
* Undertaking scheme budgets including material, labour and subcontractors
* Procurement of trade packages where required
* Prepare tender and subcontract documents, including bills of quantities
* Certifying subcontractor including labour-only subcontractor payments and wages
* Assisting Project team with financial implications of site progress decisions
* Evaluate tenders from contractors and subcontractors and, where appropriate, negotiate with the contractors
* Monitor budgets and produce forecasts for current projects
* Ordering and monitoring material purchases and call offs
Requirements
* Has or is working towards a recognised degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying
* A talented construction professional ideally from a similar background, having gained experience with a contractor or consultancy
* Skilled in cost control, estimating and measurement
* Able to identify potential problems before they arise and evolve effective, innovative and cost efficient timely solutions

* Hours: 7:30-4:30 Mon-Thursday 7:30-3pm Friday
