Pre-Construction Director
Location: Camden
Salary: 80,000 - 90,000 + Benefits (Open to negotiation)
O'Neill & Brennan are representing an established £100m+ sub-contractor who are seeking an experienced Pre-construction Director to lead the pre-construction team. The role will oversee the management of all bids, tenders and early-stage project engagement, ensuring packages are commercially sound, competitively positioned, and aligned with client strategy.
This is a key leadership role, responsible for building consistency, governance, and commercial discipline across the pre-construction lifecycle - from first enquiry through to handover into Contract.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the pre-construction team, ensuring all tenders are prepared to a high standard and submitted on time.
- Reports directly into the Regional Director.
- Develop and maintain procedures, tender review processes and pricing models to improve accuracy and consistency.
- Work with the Directors to shape commercial strategies for securing new projects.
- Review client enquiries, tender documentation and specifications to identify key risks, opportunities and value propositions.
- Coordinate with operations and SHEQ teams to ensure bids reflect practical, compliant, and deliverable solutions.
- Support business development by preparing cost plans, benchmarking data and presentation material for client engagement.
- Lead post-tender reviews and lessons-learned sessions to drive continuous improvement in pricing accuracy and win rates.
- Maintain oversight of pre-construction pipeline reporting, ensuring visibility of workload, conversion rates, and performance metrics.
- Develop team capability through mentoring, coaching, and clear performance expectations.

Requirements:
- Strong background within the construction or logistics sector.
- Proven experience managing multiple tenders/projects, ideally within a subcontractor, main contractor, or package environment.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to balance competitiveness, margin, and delivery risk.
- Confident leading client presentations and negotiations at senior level.
- Strong Excel skills and knowledge of commercial models, with good working knowledge of MS Office and/or estimating software.
- Understanding of CDM, health & safety, and sustainability principles within a construction logistics context.
- Leadership experience, able to build high-performing teams and drive accountability.
