Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Orthoptist based at University Hospital Ayr.
What you will do
You will have highly developed specialised knowledge of orthoptic clinical practice. You will be involved in the autonomous assessment of complex adult and paediatric orthoptic cases within the acute hospital settings, community based paediatric orthoptic clinics and pre-school visual screening at various sites across Ayrshire. You will also participate in shared care refraction clinics with the hospital optometrists. You will be involved in the pre-operative and post-operative assessment and management of children having strabismus surgery and botulinum toxin. The Orthoptic department within NHS Ayrshire & Arran is also responsible for triaging paediatric referrals to the eye clinic. The department is committed to audit and research and actively encourages continued professional development.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job
Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Orthoptics
• Completion of recognised Exemptions to Medicine course
• HCPC Registration including annotation of medical exemptions in the register
Hours
37 hours per week Monday-Friday
UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership
A UK car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
