As a Principal Registrar and Deputy Registration Manager, you will be guiding and supporting the public through some of life’s biggest moments, including the registering of births, deaths and marriages.

As a Principal Registrar and Deputy Registration Manager, you will be guiding and supporting the public through some of life’s biggest moments, including the registering of births, deaths and marriages.

Working as part of the Registrar Services Management Team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day functions of the office, providing expert advice and guidance and managing the team to support the Registration Service.

What You Will Be Doing


* Regularly, you will carry out marriage, civil partnership, citizenship and other ceremonies.
* When required, it will be your responsibility to take notices of marriage and civil partnerships.
* In conjunction with the Registration Manager, you will assist in supervising a team, ensuring that performance objectives are achieved.
* You will provide clear and accurate specialist advice to customers, ensuring effective customer relationships are established and maintained.
* It will be key for you to positively contribute to the development of the service by giving technical guidance and training to team members and colleagues.
* Working with external contacts, customers and colleagues on technical policies and standards, you will ensure compliance is met.

What We Need From You

* It is essential for you to have considerable relevant practical experience, backed by evidence of appropriate specialist knowledge in all areas of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships.
* We require you to be able to demonstrate knowledge of appropriate registrar software packages.
* Ideally, you will have experience in supervising and developing a team.
* Given the nature of this role, you may be required to work as Ceremony Celebrant and Registrar at weekends and on bank holidays.

What You Need To Know

* This role is full time, working 37 hours per week.
* You will be expected to travel throughout the authority and surrounding area so you must have a full, valid driving licence, with regular access to a vehicle.

Interviews will be held on 18th August 2025.
