30 - 37.5 hours per week

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner within Trauma, Orthopaedics, and Frailty services, you will provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients presenting with musculoskeletal injuries and frailty-related conditions. You will work autonomously and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary orthogeriatric team to deliver holistic, patient-centered care.

We are seeking a candidate who:

Holds a Masters degree or equivalent in Advanced Clinical Practice

Has proven experience in trauma and orthopaedics, with demonstrable knowledge or experience working within frailty and orthogeriatric services

Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning with comprehensive understanding of musculoskeletal conditions and frailty syndromes

Is skilled in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures relevant to the specialty

Possesses excellent communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills

Holds current professional registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC) and adheres to high professional standards

Is committed to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice

Supporting and mentoring junior staff and students


Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include:

Working closely with the orthogeriatric team to assess, manage, and coordinate care for frail patients with musculoskeletal trauma and orthopaedic conditions

Conducting comprehensive clinical assessments and developing integrated management plans for trauma, orthopaedic, and frail patients

Identifying frailty syndromes and implementing tailored care pathways to improve functional outcomes and reduce complications

Ordering and interpreting relevant diagnostic investigations, including imaging and laboratory tests

Performing advanced clinical procedures relevant to trauma and orthopaedics

Collaborating effectively with geriatricians, surgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals

Leading patient education, rehabilitation, and discharge planning with a focus on frailty prevention and optimisation of recovery

Participating in clinical governance, audit, research, and service development within the orthogeriatric and trauma/orthopaedic services

Qualifications

* Registered Nurse/ AHP (Valid NMC/HCPC )
* Teaching qualification ENB 997/8 or similar
* Extended scope of practice
* Full MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalentComponents include:
* -Non medical prescribing
* -Advanced physical and consultation skills
* -X-ray interpretation
* -ALS provider
* MSK x-ray interpretation
* IRMER training


Skills & Abilities

* Advanced clinical assessment skills
* CXR radiography interpretation
* Use of safe Non-medical prescribing
* Demonstrate clinical reasoning/problem solving
* Ability to work under pressure, manage and prioritise workload
* Complex/ultrasound guided cannulation


Experience

* Significant post registered experience which should include experience in the specialist area
* Successful completion of core and relevant specialist competencies Evidence/acceptance of managing change
* Evidence of management and leadership
* Demonstrate understanding of current developments in the specialty
* Knowledge of current NHS, Professional and educational issues
* Knowledge of current Advanced Clinical Practice policy and framework drivers
* Knowledge of clinical governance and risk assessment/management
* Knowledge of infection control issues
* Knowledge and understanding of statutory and professional requirements
* Knowledge of Trust policies and procedures
* Awareness of confidentiality
