Job Summary
Hi, my name is Elena Halton, and I am one of the Team Managers here in the NHS Kirklees Talking Therapies Team.
We are excited to welcome applications for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (TPWP) to work across Kirklees in the NHS Kirklees Talking Therapies Team.
This is an ideal opportunity for candidates interested in working with common mental health problems in an NHS TT setting (Primary Care Mental Health). You will attend university for one, or occasionally two days a week (after an introductory week), and carry out a clinical role during the rest of the week. You will have assignments to complete in your own time, in line with a postgraduate training course.
We work agilely within the service, so you will attend clinics in Kirklees and need a confidential and private workspace at home. An understanding of anxiety and depression, and how these can present in primary care, is required.
The training post will commence on a Band 4 pay scale. Upon successful completion of this certificate within 12 months, you will continue employment as a qualified Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner on a Band 5 pay scale.
All trainees receive the recommended clinical supervision and case management supervision, in accordance with national guidance.
All employees are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect patients.
Main Duties of the Job
Our team provides NICE compliant psychotherapy, including CBT, Counselling, and Guided Self Help, to clients in primary care across Kirklees. We operate an 8-8 service Monday to Friday, offering sessions via Microsoft Teams, telephone, or face-to-face.
Clinics are held both in Trust premises and in primary care settings to ensure accessibility. We treat clients with common mental health issues like depression and anxiety, aiming for a recovery target of 50%, which reflects our positive impact.
For more information or to discuss this position, contact Elena Halton at 07887 833276 or Louise Holdsworth-Tulk at 07824 127979.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a two-part interview process during the week commencing 28th July 2025. Successful candidates will then attend a second interview with the University of Sheffield the same week.
The postgraduate certificate begins in October 2025.
Note: Due to high interest, the vacancy may close early.
This role currently meets UK Visas and Immigration sponsorship requirements. We look forward to your application.
