Coordinating Faith Leader\n\nDepartment: Chaplaincy\n\nSalary: Starting from £38,249, rising to £45,413 (pro rata)\n\nClosing date: Sunday 27 July 2025\n\nMake a meaningful difference at the heart of university life.\n\nAre you passionate about supporting people of all religions, faiths and beliefs in a dynamic and inclusive university environment? We are seeking a compassionate and visionary Coordinating Faith Leader to lead and develop our multi-faith chaplaincy provision, supporting the spiritual, emotional, and pastoral wellbeing of students and staff across our diverse university community.\n\nAbout the role\n\nAs our Coordinating Chaplain, you will:\n\n- provide strategic leadership and day-to-day management of our multi-faith community.\n- offer inclusive pastoral care to students and staff of all faiths, spiritualities, and worldviews, including during times of crisis or bereavement.\n- lead a dedicated team of volunteer chaplains, religious faith advisors, and chaplaincy staff.\n- coordinate interfaith initiatives and events that promote dialogue, understanding, and community cohesion.\n- advise on faith, belief, and religious inclusion across the institution, contributing to training, policy, and strategic development.\n\nThis is a unique opportunity to play a key role in enhancing wellbeing, inclusion, and belonging at our University, while working in partnership with internal services, faith communities, and student groups.\n\nAbout you\n\nWe are looking for someone who:\n\n- has experience offering pastoral and spiritual support in a multi-faith, multicultural environment.\n- demonstrates leadership in managing staff and volunteers, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.\n- is committed to equality, diversity, and interfaith engagement.\n- is recognised by a relevant faith or belief body or holds equivalent experience within a pastoral or belief-based context.\n- brings warmth, emotional resilience, and strong interpersonal skills to sensitive and complex situations.\n\nYou’ll also bring knowledge of safeguarding, professional boundaries in pastoral care, and an understanding of the role chaplaincy plays in the wider university context.\n\nFurther information\n\nJoin us in fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and spiritually rich environment where all members of our university community can thrive.\n\nThis is a part-time role, working 30 hours per week, although some evening and weekend work will be required to support events and respond to community needs.\n\nAn enhanced DBS check is required for this position.\n\nFor an informal conversation about the role please contact Abi Phillips, Deputy Director Culture and Inclusion.
