This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Hepatobiliary Research Nurse / Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team and play a key role in delivering and developing specialist care and research within the hepatobiliary service across all sites of HHFT.
You will be a passionate advocate for high‑quality, patient‑centred care, supporting patients throughout their diagnostic, treatment, and research journey. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the advancement of clinical practice through research, innovation, and evidence‑based care.
Main duties of the job
* Provide research nursing input into clinical research studies.
* Co‑ordinate a group of patients enrolled in research studies.
* Support and maintain a framework to lead, deliver and support clinical supervision, mentorship and education for all staff and students.
* Work according to GCP and research governance standards for clinical trials.
* It is expected that the post holder will also provide non‑specialty assistance to other Research Nurses/practitioners conducting clinical research.

* Act in accordance with the Code of Conduct/Professional Practice Standards of your profession (e.g. NMC, HCPC).
* Maintain own professional development, maintaining a personal portfolio.
* Identify own needs for clinical supervision and the most appropriate way to implement this.

* Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
* Embrace and implement the vision and values of HHFT.

Qualifications and Experience
* Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.
* Professional UK registration (NMC, HCPC).
* Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study or employment experience.
* Post‑registration qualification(s) in field of expertise.
* Formal training and/or experience in mentorship.
* Experience post registration.
* Evidence of CPD clearly recorded for professional profile.
* Recent experience working within an acute clinical speciality.
* Experience in conducting or managing clinical research.
* Experience managing a caseload of patients.
* Knowledge of hepatobiliary disease, surgical pathways and postoperative care.
* Knowledge of research governance, ethics and regulatory approvals (R&D).
* Understanding of clinical audit and service evaluation.
* Ability to evaluate, assess and plan care for patients.
* Ability to explain clinical trials to patients.
* Ability to work at problems from a unique or different angle.
* Experience of deputising or supporting senior staff.
