Overview
Join our Apprenticeship Scheme within the Research & Development department at Honeywell Aerospace in Yeovil. You will be working on novel aerospace technology research projects, Design, Project Engineering, Test Engineering & Design, Systems Engineering, supplier management including some business travel in UK/EU/USA. Aerospace Apprentice Engineers will work primarily within a specific engineering discipline inside the Research and Development department, such as Design, Test, Project or Systems Engineering. You will focus on all aspects related to the requirements of technology readiness levels (TRLs), to develop various types of aerospace technologies, from the conception of the idea to TRL6 which demonstrates real‑world operation and compliance of the technology.

* Assist and own R&D projects; communicate technical information with others at all levels, including technical reports and digital tools.
* Follow a methodical approach to engineering problem solving.
* Establish and report engineering design briefs.
* Produce mechanical and electrical designs, drawings or sketches using CAD and manual systems.
* Model real‑world mechanical systems efficiently.
* Select the design solution for a given electro‑mechanical engineering application and environment using data to inform decisions.
* Integrate electrical and mechanical engineering systems, considering new and emerging technologies.
* Use appropriate equipment to develop and execute test plans to support electro‑mechanical product validation and approval.
* Design functional electronic systems and circuits from component level.
* Write and document structured programming code for electro‑mechanical systems.
* Fabricate engineering components and assemblies using specialist manufacturing methods and hand‑fitting techniques.
* Assemble, wire, program and test electrical equipment, motors and control systems.
* Plan, manage, and lead engineering projects.
* Perform risk management for engineering activities.
* Comply with statutory and organisational safety requirements.
* Communicate technical information with others at all levels, including technical reports and digital tools.
* Follow a methodical approach to engineering problem solving.
Qualifications & Eligibility
* Degree level Electromechanical Engineer apprenticeship standard includes:
* Level 6 (integrated degree) – BEng Electromechanical engineering or BSc engineering or another engineering degree that fully aligns to the apprenticeship KSBs.
* GCSE in Double Science (grade 4‑9), English (grade 4‑9), Maths (grade 4‑9).
* 2 STEM‑related subjects at A‑Level (grades A‑C).
* Other relevant qualifications and industry experience may be considered; the apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
