You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing essential electrical systems within a complex, multidisciplinary environment, always ensuring seamless operation and safety. What You’ll Do: Provide comprehensive electrical maintenance, repairs, and installation services across clinical and non clinical areas, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. Carry out reactive repairs, planned preventative maintenance, and small scale electrical works on complex systems, including emergency lighting, nurse call, and distribution equipment. Diagnose and repair faults on electrical and electronic systems, including high impact services such as UPS, generators, and patient environment systems. Work safely and effectively in clinical environments, including working in confined spaces, working at height, and in areas with vulnerable patients, maintaining privacy and dignity. Responding promptly to out of hours emergencies and repairs to minimise service disruption. Provide technical advice and support to colleagues, contractors, and clinical staff, explaining complex information clearly and professionally. Ensure all statutory inspections, testing, and certification of electrical and fire alarm systems are completed in compliance with legal requirements. Use electronic job management systems to prioritise, record, and complete maintenance tasks efficiently, demonstrating strong organisational skills. Maintain a high standard of safety, including adhering to safe systems of work, risk assessments, and reporting high risk activities or service failures. What You Bring: City and Guilds Level 3 recognised Apprenticeship of NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations, HTM Competent Person Qualification, Electrical Inspection and Testing 2391. Knowledge of electrical lighting and power, distribution equipment, motors, pumps, controls, Building Management Systems CAFM, fire and nurse call systems, air handling units, and NHS standards. Proven experience working within hospital settings, understanding NHS estate policies, reactive maintenance, and working under pressure. Familiarity with Building Regulations, Health and Safety at Work Act, Electricity at Work Act, Asbestos Regulations, COSHH, and confined spaces awareness. Ability to carry out electrical works across trades, interpret technical drawings, and develop practical, safe solutions in reactive environments. Effective communicator at all levels, able to work collaboratively with clinical and managerial colleagues. Experience with CAFM systems Planet, Concerto, estate audits, and knowledge of estate plant and equipment management. Capable of working independently, adapting to changing priorities, and committed to continuous professional development. Honest, reliable, patient, with a strong problem solving mindset, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
