Mechanical & Manufacturing Design Engineer
The Company
Our client is an innovative engineering and technology business operating at the forefront of product development and manufacturing. Due to continued growth within their R&D function, they are seeking a Mechanical & Manufacturing Design Engineer to support the development and integration of new and existing product lines.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Research & Development, this is a key position focused on the design, development and implementation of mechanical and manufacturing solutions.
You will be responsible for translating concepts into practical, production-ready designs, supporting system integration, and ensuring manufacturing processes are efficient, compliant and cost-effective.
This role offers a blend of design, analysis and project work within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, components and product enclosures
* Translate concepts and proposals into practical design and manufacturing solutions
* Develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes for new and existing products
* Carry out design calculations and support equipment selection to meet project requirements
* Select appropriate materials based on performance, environmental and application requirements
* Ensure designs comply with relevant legislation and standards (e.g. CE/UKCA)
* Support system integration across projects and product platforms
* Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and external partners to deliver projects
* Maintain documentation in line with ISO9001 standards
* Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing efficiency and product performance
The Person
* Degree, HND or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (with relevant experience)
* Strong experience in mechanical design and manufacturing environments
* Proficient in CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
* Experience with manufacturing technologies (additive and/or subtractive)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Requirements
* Must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC)
* UK National required
